Choosing to be there for others can come with a number of intentions. In this post, I would like to address the top ways to support the health of others.
In lieu of giving unsolicited or dangerous advice on diets, lifestyle, exercise, supplements and medications, I suggest these simple tips:
- Learn First Aid and CPR techniques
- Emergencies occur – knowledge of life-saving techniques can make a world of difference.
- AED devices are accessible. Check this app to see the closest ones to you.
Wash your hands.
A simple and effective way to support immune function and care for yourself and others.
Wear a mask.
If you are not feeling well, don a mask.

Practice active listening.
Take time to truly hear people, whether it be a friend, a family member, a coworker, or a stranger. Simply be present (phone put away!) and seek to truly hear with your own thoughts, opinions, experiences, and desires paused for the time.
Set and keep boundaries.
Respecting yourself and enjoying what works for you is important.
The time and practice it takes to learn how to place healthy boundaries is worth the effort in the long run.
Note: Boundaries are not walls or triggers, rather they hold consequences of action for your own self-care.

We want to see people succeed. We learn to care for ourselves first and foremost without seeking to repair or fix another. When we truly wish to give advice we can ask first.
It takes humility to be there for others; yet we can make a difference with mindfulness, kindness, and care.
