Walking into a store that sells semi-precious stones and crystals often carries a mystical atmosphere. Pick up any book about crystals and feel bedazzled by the list of healing properties – but does it hold a grain of Na (salt) truth?
When outside factors affect the way we feel, that creates a very real physiological response. Some metals conduct heat better than others allowing for cooling or warming sensations from different stones. Others have sensational colours that catch the eye, such as the purple hues of amethyst or the deep blue of lapis lazuli. Colours do affect the way we feel and those effects can alter the choices made throughout the day.
The chemistry of crystals align with faith in that each has its own vibration. The structure of the atomic bonds, the minerals involved and time, echo the metabolic organic chemistry within our own bodies.
So what about those claims of healing conditions?
When used adjunctively with food choices, movement, nutraceuticals and adequate rest, relief comes swiftly for a variety of symptoms. The placebo effect itself highlights the power of the mind; any and all attention centered on healing is helpful, meaningful and practical.
Our biochemistry is linked to genetics and the universe outside ourselves; when we understand and honour our needs at the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical level, we can and do heal.
