Day 18 – 30 Day 30 Chew Challenge

Disadvantages of chewing.

When might chewing not be such a great thing -the ‘when’ of the question is the key, nighttime chewing or grinding of the teeth (called bruxism) is an involuntary action that can damage the teeth and jaw. Much can be done to help this issue if present. Speaking to your dentist is a great first step in assessing the situation.

As stress may be a predominant factor in the cause following techniques to reduce stress is a wise move. Reflexology is an excellent modality to recentre and relax. By allocating time to breathe and focus back on priorities, things can fall back into perspective and balance. There is a solution to every problem and in a sense, problems are the delight of life because thinking invokes imagination -used in the right way, creative action grows, the spirit thrives, and life changes (again, in its endless impermanence).

Mouthguards protect the teeth from touching each other and are designed to be small and comfortable to wear. These can be found in your local pharmacy.

Massaging the jaws before bed with a few drops of Intégrité Serum is a gentle and loving gesture that can reduce stress, facilitate breathing, and nourish the skin (and beards!) at the same time.

Much can be done to soothe nighttime grinding and keep those jaws a chewin’ at the right time. 30 chews at a time.
